#WHPperfectpair Paper and dreams – this is, in my personal universe, the perfect pair! I know I have mentioned this several times during my “1000 cranes in 1000 days” project, but paper has helped me save my life more times than I can recall! In the case of today’s crane, repetition was my music: drawing and then cutting out each “feather”, carefully giving a name to each one while marking it with lines, each line holding in itself my most hidden thoughts, hopes and worries. Paper wings weighed down by me, but still able to fly. Here is my perfect pair! My perfect paradox. #origami #icarusmidair #paperart #papercutting #inktober2017 #kuretakeinktober2017 #blackandwhite

Greetings from a very windy Somerset! As some of you know, I am away, in the UK, with my parents. Dad is not too well. My desire to create things has fluctuated quite significantly lately. But I appreciated the freedom of not having to finish something within 24 hours. This bird is made of music and big, late night dreams. It also has a pinch of frustration and powerlessness! I did well to bring my watercolours with me! They are proving to be a much-needed means of escapism. My experiences from the past two weeks are compressed in the plumage of today’s crane. I will shortly resume replying to all the lovely comments and messages I have received since reaching my goal of Senbazuru. But until then, I will need rest, and lots of it. (Dear heart, be still!) PS – today’s crane will we available for purchase from my Etsy shop very soon. #origami #icarusmidair #watercolor #watercolour #mixedmedia #feathers #turquoise #etsy #etsyshop

#990 “made with love” crane #WHPmadewithlove Song of the day: At home & in my head by Hundred Waters @hundredwaters Today, I took you with me through pretty much all the steps of the creative process behind crane number 990 with my Stories. There are only 10 cranes left until I reach “senbazuru”. And I get a wish! It only took 2.73 years to get here, but hey, wishes don’t come easy! I am also excited to take part in this weekend hashtag project. The theme is “made with love”. And with all modesty I have to say that for the past 990 days, I managed to find at least a few minutes every day to make each of these cranes with love. I painted my heart purple and pink and red and brown to match today’s crane. Sending love to each one of you! x #origami #icarusmidair #paperart #papiroflexia #delicate #theweekonintagram #wings #wing #origamicrane #abstract #autumn #floral #feather #feathers #mixedmedia # #hundredwaters #flowers #flower #petal #petals

#988 “I see feathers” crane Song of the day: Kiss of life by Friendly Fires @friendlyfiresofficial I find myself quite often looking around me when I am bored or just resting and trying to find things I can use for the next crane. Most of the times I look for feather-shaped things. Or at least things that can be made to look like feathers. Today I took out my good-old flower press. It took ages to unscrew the four nuts. And I had completely forgotten what I had put inside. I was all smiles when I saw these gorgeous leaves that I picked last year. They embody autumn so well. And, you guessed it, I turned them into feathers. Off I go to enjoy today’s lovely weather! x #origami #icarusmidair #paperart #papiroflexia #delicate #theweekonintagram #wings #wing #origamicrane #abstract #leaves #leaf #pressedflowers #pressedplants #floral #feather #feathers #mixedmedia #friendlyfires #kissoflife #autumn #september

#925 “St Basil’s Cathedral” crane Song of the day: Oblivion by M83 @m83music feat. Susanne Sundfør @susannesundfor From China to Russia! Здравствуйте! Last night I was trying to figure out how to create a completely different landmark, but this cathedral kept coming to my mind. I told myself that it was too tricky to make. But this morning I embarked on a 6-hour “trip”, and this is the result. It’s such a gem of a building, and I hope I did not disappoint too much. It’s extra special because I am currently learning Russian and, you’ve guessed it, I would love to visit Russia one day. Time for some evening running now. See you tomorrow!

#860 “field of hearts” crane Song of the day: Blackbird by Norma John @normajohnofficial Later tonight we will be watching the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest. Yes, I know, @eurovision! I am excited about at least a handful of the entries this year. So starting today and until Saturday, when the final will take place, I will share with you (in the “song of the day” section) a few of my favourite songs this year. We have today off from work, because they celebrate Victory Day on the 9th of May. So of course I will be making Korean friend chicken for dinner again – for about a dozen people. Woot woot! I used some leftover quince blossom petals from the other day, and some freshly picked tiny, pink flowers. I am very happy how today’s crane turned out! ^.^ x #icarusmidair #origami #mixedmedia #eurovisionsongcontest #eurovision #normajohn #floral #flower #flowers #pink
